Winning Season for PTC Flash young athletes

PTC Flash Sub-Bantam (8 and Under) athletes competed in the Region III Cross County Junior Olympics held this weekend in Carrollton, Georgia. States in the competition were Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington D.C. and Georgia. The Sub-bantam athletes run a difficult 2K (1.24 miles) cross-country course.

The Sub-Bantam girls have won every meet this season except one, and Saturday was no exception. They once again dominated with three girls in the top six finishers. Gabby Seiler led the girls by capturing the silver medal for her second place finish of 9:20.93. She was followed 5th place Claire Bohrer with an incredible time of 9:52.43. Close behind was Haley Smith in 6th place with 9:57.13. Katie Culpepper was next at 13th with 10:47.93, followed by Kierra Roundtree, a first year runner, in 15th place at 11:25.93. Chelsey Bowman finished in 20th place with 11:39.02, an excellent time in spite of an unexpected fall at about a mile into the race. Charlie Krebs was 22nd with 12:17.73. Also first year runners were Shauna Garrett with a 25th place finish at 13:17.14 and Michaela Brown in 28th place with 15:07.71.

The Sub-bantam boys also had a great meet finishing as 4th place team in the difficult field. All are first year runners except Ian Roberts who was first for the Flash boys with 10:04.63 finishing in 11th place. Brock Roberts pulled out a personal best (PR) on this very difficult course finishing just behind his cousin for 12th place with 10:09.97. Close behind was Brandon Aultman finishing 14th in 10:11.65. Not to be out done was Matthew Bruce close behind in 15th place at 10:39.97.

The remaining athletes in the Flash, all age groups 10 and under and above, will be completing their season this year in the National Junior Olympic Meet on Dec. 14. This meet will also be held at Carrollton, Georgia. There will be over 3,000 athletes coming from through out the nation to compete in this prestigious meet. The 21 Flash qualifiers would like to invite you to come out and watch them and several other Georgia athletes as they compete for the 25 All American slots awarded in each age group.
