SCAT places second at Chattahoochee Gold

SCAT swimmers finished second in team standings at the Chattahoochee Gold Invitational Meet in Cobb County this past weekend.

Following the second meet of the short course season, Head Coach Jamey Myers said, "The coaching staff feels good about the many improvements already made and looks forward to the upcoming meets."

About 50 local swimmers took part in the meet at the Mountain View Aquatic Center in Cobb County. Seven swim teams from around the Metro-Atlanta area participated. Myers said that for SCAT this meet offered the first full slate of events with most swimmers competing in five races on each of two days.

"Meets such as this in October offer swimmers a chance to test new skills and iron out a few wrinkles," Myers said.

A number of SCAT swimmers achieved state qualifying, as well as personal best times. Alexa Cocker, 11, broke three Jr. National disabled records in the 100 freestyle, 50 back, and 100 individual medley, Myers said. The team travels to Americus on Oct. 18 for the Georgia Southwestern Invitational.
