Cross country teams run in county meet, Last Chance

The county cross country teams competed in the county meet at Clayton County International Park last Wednesday. McIntosh's boys and girls captured first place, while Starr's Mill finished second and Fayette County and Sandy Creek rounded out the top four. On Saturday, many of these same teams traveled to Carrollton for the Last Chance Invitational.

In the championship girls division, Starr's Mill placed 17th and McIntosh placed 18th. The top five girls for Starr's Mill were Kristin Horton, 25, 20:53; Katie Hughes, 77, 22:18, Jessi Cort, 102, 22:48; Katy Underwood, 121, 23:23 and Alyssa LaRocca, 23:48. McIntosh's top five were Erica Hughey, 46, 21:34; Melissa Anderson, 60, 21:48; Allison Fratto, 97, 22:42; Kelly Myers, 126, 23:35 and Lindsay Murphy, 136, 23:52.

In the championship boys division, Landmark Christian placed seventh, McIntosh placed 10th, Starr's Mill placed 13th, Fayette County place 14th and Our Lady of Mercy placed 24th. Landmark's top five were Blake Fertitta, 6, 16:30; Joseph Register, 9, 16:42; James Register, 46, 17:35; Robert Jones, 47, 17:35 and Will Bonn, 81, 18:03. McIntosh's top five were Ben Brantly, 13, 16:50; Ian Hardy, 64, 17:54; Thomas Turner, 68, 17:54; John Powers, 76, 18:01 and Clint Adams, 83, 18:06.

Starr's Mill's top five runners were Daniel Shankle, 17:03; David Woods, 53, 17:45; Bradley Morris, 69, 17:55; Sankar Sridaran, 84, 18:06; Jacob McBride, 102, 18:18. Fayette County's top five runners were Blake Alverson, 30, 17:22; David Dalton, 94, 18:14; nathan Foster, 104, 18:20; Ryan Wolfe, 120, 18:38 and Kirk Palan, 128, 18:50. Our Lady of Mercy's top five runners were mark Johnson, 109, 18:27; Zach Lethbridge, 160, 19:16; patrick Super, 176, 19:42; Albert Jumper, 180, 19:47 and Ryan Schilling, 205, 20:37.

In other divisions, Fayette County's girls placed 21st in the AAAA/AAAAA division, while Landmark's girls placed third in A/AA/AAA and Our Lady of Mercy's girls placed 14th. Fayette County's top five were Claire Bergstrom, 17, 21:09; Taylor Barnes, 86, 23:02; Kerry Magerl, 157, 24:32; Danielle Ashley, 180, 25:13 and Allison Nelms, 221, 26:49. Landmarks' top five were Kristina Eden, 12, 21:55; Mary Michael Joiner, 27, 23:01; Hope Hirst, 34, 23:23; Emily Wood, 57, 24:25 and Courtney Piribek, 73, 24:46. The top five for Our Lady of Mercy were Lana King, 43, 23:41; Lanniea Batiste, 75, 24:47; Alyssa Wojick, 87, 25:13; Jennifer Young, 90, 25:20 and Meghan Jones, 26:05.

The area 4-AAAAA meet will take place at Clayton County International Park at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
