Inman UMC
to host old-time summer revival If you like good, uplifting music, old-fashioned testimonials, and preaching in the great outdoors, then you'll want to attend Inman United Methodist Church's old fashioned summer revival Sunday through Wednesday, Aug. 4-7, at 7 p.m., at the Minter Farm on Hillsbridge Road. Inman's pastor, the Rev. Doug Burrell, will deliver the sermons, all on the theme of "Responding to God's Call." Guest musicians, along with the Inman choir and members of the congregation will lead the singing. Old fashioned testimonials of faith will be given by some, and a church spokesperson added that it will be a "special treat when stock car driver Mike Head shares his faith in Jesus Christ." The Minter Farm's location has special significance for the revival in that it is near the place where early Inman church members first gathered under brush arbors for summer revivals. "This camp meeting atmosphere encourages us to get close to the land and the elements, just as those first people of faith were when God issued his calling to them," a spokesperson said. "Abraham and Moses, Jesus and Paul, were all outdoors or in the wilderness when they experienced or confirmed the call of God on their lives. "Each night there will be a gospel message which will challenge us to hear the specific call that God wants every person to hear and answer," the spokesperson continued. "On Wednesday night, Mike Head, a veteran stock car driver, will share how God has called him to share Jesus Christ through his exciting and often dangerous work in the sport of auto racing." Special music on Sunday evening will feature Mrs. Nada Clements and the North Fayette United Methodist Church choir; Monday evening Jim Gauntt will perform musical selections; Brian and Nancy Lindsey of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will lead Tuesday's musical offering; and on Wednesday, the Inman Chancel Choir and youth groups will sing. Fellowship and outdoor refreshments are planned each night after the service. A nursery will be provided at the church building for bed babies through age 3. The Minter Farm is on Hillsbridge Rd. off Ga. Hwy. 92 south in Inman. From Fayetteville, take Ga. Hwy. 92 to Hillsbridge and turn left. Go past Inman church to the farm.
