Ancestor also was honored

What a wonderful story! And what a rewarding mission Eddie Lanham is pursuing.

The United Daughters of the Confederacy, General P.M.B. Young Chapter 2373, recently remembered my great-grandfather, C.C. Hufstetler, by placing a marker on his grave at Red Top Mountain State Park where Old Bethany Church Cemetery is located. He lived from 1838 to 1905 and fought in The War Between the States, as Miss Lettie Ashworth used to make us say (She vowed to "fail" anyone who dared call it The Civil War in her American History class at Fayette County High School).

Sgt. Hufstetler was in McCarthy's Co. 17th Battalion Georgia Infantry and fought to save Cooper's Iron Furnace on the Etowah River in Cartersville.

My mother, Mrs. Allie Hufstetler McMichen, is the only living grandchild. She has been in Lafayette Nursing Home since May 2001, and was unable to attend the dedication.

Anyway. Thanks for the story. I truly enjoyed it.
