Is county
water tower rule, 'Paint it, then demolish it'?
Maybe I missed the news article, but I was hoping the Fayette County Water System could help me with a question. The older water tower at the corner of Ga. Highway 92 and Lee's Mill Road has been demolished; all traces are gone. Of course, this was after the new, higher capacity tower was built adjacent to it. The question I have is this: why would money be spent to strip, prime, and repaint the older tower less than two years before it was eventually torn down? This certainly seems like a huge waste of money and poor planning. Does anyone have any answers? I have a hard time believing that the older tower was going to completely disintegrate without that refurbishing while waiting for the new tower to be built. Wes Wilkins Tyrone
