A penny here, a penny there

[Carolyn] Cary is somewhat mistaken about the purchase of a $110 pair of shoes during the March sales tax holiday.

The first $100 is exempt from sales tax; only the $10, which exceeds the per-item limit, is subject to sales tax.

A small but accurate savings for the frugal shopper.
