To be the best, you have to play the best. That is what several local soccer teams did last weekend and though the locals lost, they have to be somewhat encouraged.

Sandy Creek's boys and girls faced Heritage Friday night. The girls lost 4-0 and the boys fell 7-0. Both of Heritage's teams are highly ranked this year. The Heritage boys are ranked number one in AAAA and the girls are ranked fourth.

Sandy Creek hosted Creekside last night and will travel to College Park to take on Woodward Academy Friday. The girls will play at 5:30 and the boys game will follow.

Starr's Mill hosted Parkview's boys and girls Saturday. The Lady Panthers fell to Parkview 2-1 in a game that went to penalty kicks. The game was tied at 1 at the end of regulation. Amanda Thurber scored the lone goal for Starr's Mill and Shelley Wegryzyn got the assist.

The boys lost to Parkview, ranked number one in AAAAA, 1-0. Starr's Mill hosted Henry County last night. The Lady Panthers will host Centennial tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. and the boys will play at Fayette County Friday at 8 p.m.

Fayette County and McIntosh's boys met on Friday night and the Chiefs won 7-1. It was the first goal McIntosh has given up in the regular season. The McIntosh boys team played at Eagle's Landing last night, while the McIntosh girls played at Fayette County.

This weekend the Lady Chiefs will host Westminster Friday at 8 p.m., while the boys will host Clarke Central at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Fayette County's boys played at Newnan last night and will host Starr's Mill Friday. The Lady Tigers hosted McIntosh last night and will travel to Lovejoy Friday for a game at 5 p.m.
