Baseball teams are warming up at beginning of season

The high school baseball season has begun and many of the local teams will face off against each other this week in the Fayette Sports Preseason Classic.

Sandy Creek is 2-0 after wins against East Coweta and McIntosh. The Patriots defeated the Indians 2-0. Terry Jones hit a solo homerun in the first inning and Griffin Hall pitched five scoreless innings. In their game against McIntosh, Sandy Creek won 8-5. Hall hit a three run homerun on his way to driving in five runs. McIntosh got offense from J.T. Thompson who hit a three run homerun as well and Tim Battle who hit a solo homerun.

Sandy Creek will face Starr's Mill at Starr's Mill today at 5:30 p.m. and will face Fayette County at Fayette County on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

McIntosh deeated Griffin 13-3 in their first game of the season and tied Creekside 6-6 in their second game. Tonight, the Chiefs will play Warner Robins in Lovejoy at 7 p.m., will host Landmark Christian School at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow and Bowdon on Monday at 5 p.m.

Starr's Mill opened the seaosn with 11-1 wins over Creekside and Spalding County. After playing the Patriots tonight, Starr's Mill will play at Rockdale County on Saturday at noon.

Fayette County, which face Sandy Creek on Friday night, will play Banneker at 5 p.m. They will host Parkview on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Our Lady of Mercy High School will travel to Woodward Academy today for a 5 p.m game They will play at greenville at 4:30 p.m on Friday and will host Bowdon at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Pike at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
