Exam policy: More problems than solutions

I am writing in regard to the current exam exemption policy for the seniors at Starr's Mill High School. The exemption policy requires that seniors have at least an 80, as well as only five absences in order to be able to exempt their final exams.

While this measure was initially taken to ensure that all of the seniors are present, therefore helping them to pass, this policy has led to a major problem.

Many seniors have been coming to school sick with many maladies, some of which are contagious, simply because they do not want to have to take their final exams. This therefore exposes all of the students at Starr's Mill to more illness, making everyone sick.

I believe that there should be some sort of academic requirement for exempting final exams, but I believe that the attendance policy simply causes more problems than it solves.
