SCAT swimmers do well in Augusta

SCAT swimmers swam in a meet in Augusta recently and had swimmers in almost every console or final in the 11-12, 13-14 and senior age groups.

Lauren Cartwright, a gold level swimmer, took first place in the 200 fly, the 200 breast, the 100 and 200 free and also placed second in the 50 free and the 100 fly. She also took third place in the 100 breast. Joseph Redmon finished first in the 100 fly and third in the 200 breast and 50 free.

Mackenzie Garrot swam to personal bests in two finals and four console events. Also swimming personal bests in the finals or consoles were Georgia Highsmith, Lindsay Lochridge, Katelyn Davis and Julia Redmon.

The silver level swimmers had 19 swimmers in 155 races. The team had personal bests in 94 of those races. Bailey Catwright and Pharan Evans placed in the top 10 in 17 events. Alex Harmon, a member of the 10 and under team, had five top 10 finishes. Finalists in the 11-12 age group were Samantha Currenti, Casey DeRidder, Julie Glass and Hannah Williams. Zachary Payne, Peter Menke, Bailey Garrot, Cassandra Heimann, Daniel Hughes, Iain Ferguson, Jeb Beard, Keaton Hannon, Sara Harper, Siana Poretti, Kirsten Pretzer and Grace Robertson all had personal bests in most of their events.

Caroline Evans, a bronze level swimmer in the 8 and under age group, placed first in the 100 individual medley and the 100 free. She also placed second in the 50 free, the 50 back and the 50 fly. Sydney Currenti placed first in the 50 fly and third in the 100 individual medley. The two girls placed in the top 10 in 12 events. Bailey DeRidder, Matt Manley, Sara Manley, Casey Blanchard, Courtney Highsmith and Jessica Heimann all had personal bests in their swims.

The white shark group only sent six swimmers to the meet but they all swam great. Nathan Berenth, Sydney Cartwright, Christina Harding, Kaitlen Harper, and Alec Vasquez had best times in all of the events they swam in.
