Rising Starr places second in MMSAL wrestling championship

The Metro Middle School Athletic League had their league wrestling championships last weekend. The league consists of the six middle schools from Henry County and five from Fayette County. Henry County Middle School placed first but Rising Starr Middle School, which won the county meet the previous weekend, placed second and Whitewater Middle School placed third.

Rising Starr Middle School had seven individual weight class champions, one second place finisher and three third place finishers. The champions for Rising Starr were Kevin Thurber, 75, John Donaldosn, 80, Derek King, 85, David Thurber, 90, Jeff Koziol, 95, Cory Radcliffe, 100 and Tim Jones, 185. Matt Milner, 167, placed second and Aaron Thompson, 105, Matt Hartpence, 120, and Bobby Lampen, 275, placed third.
