Patriots and Chiefs get wins on Tuesday

All of the local basketball teams were in action on Tuesday night and the results were mixed. McIntosh's boys and girls and Sandy Creek's boys and girls swept their games, while Starr's Mill's boys and girls lost their games.

McIntosh faced Forest Park on Tuesday. The girls won 61-41, while the boys had a nailbiter of a game. The Chiefs had a one point lead at the half but did not pull away until the fourth quarter. Dexter Manley was the leading scorer with 15 points and Drew Hartley contributed 12, but Patrick McDonough and Markuiz Griffith also made key shots and plays down the stretch. McIntosh will play at Mt. Zion, Jonesboro tonioght.

Sandy Creek had a good night against Salem on Tuesday night. The Lady Patriots continued their 2002 turnaround with a 43-36 win, while the boys won 71-56. The Lady Patriots leading scorer was Tiffany Paschal with 15 points, while Jennifer Jarascz scored 14 points. The boys team was led by William Belton's 33 points. Sandy Creek is off this weekend and will return to action on Tuesday with games at Heritage High School in Conyers.

Starr's Mill's boys and girls battled Henry County on Tuesday night. The girls lost to the Lady Warhawks 52-46 in overtime, while the boys fell 74-70 in double overtime. Starr's Mill will host Lovejoy tonight.

In other games, Fayette County's boys lost to North Clayton, 71-46 and our Lady of Mercy's boys lost to Callaway, 65-56. Fayette County will travel to Evans tonight and will host Stockbridge tomorrow, while Our Lady of mercy will travel to Manchester tonight and Spalding County tomorrow.

Tipoff times for tonight's games are 7 p.m. for girls games with boys games schedule to follow. Saturday's games will tipoff at 6 p.m.
