Starr's Mill win county duals

Starr's Mill is still the dominant wrestling team in Fayette County but the Fayette County Tigers are closing in. The Panthers defeated McIntosh, Sandy Creek and Fayette County on Tuesday in the county duals and look like a contender for another region championship.

Starr's Mill defeated Sandy Creek, 67-9. The Panthers only lost two matches to the Patriots and won eight matches by forfeit. Starr's Mill then faced McIntosh and won 67-3. The Panthers won eight matches against the Chiefs by a pin. Starr's Mill defeated Fayette County, 42-21. Fayette County won five matches, two by pins and three by decision.

Seven Starr's Mill wrestlers went 3-0 in the meet. They were Devin King (103), Michael Kosper (112), Patrick Bates (119), Scott Hartpence (135), Kyle Verzello (160), Daniel Fuhrmann (189) and Justin Messer (215). Starr's Mill will wrestle in the Eagle's Classic Invitational at Northside-Warner Robins High School today and tomorrow. Sandy Creek will also be wrestling in the tournament.
