School is out for a few weeks and there are two local camps that will help keep the young area athletes entertained. If your child is into golf or baseball, there is a camp out there for them.

The Wendell Coffee Golf Center in Tyrone will have camps for golfers ages 6-14, Dec. 21-22, Dec. 26-28 and Jan. 2-4. The cost of the Dec. 21 and 22 camp is $80 while the other camps are $120. Camp begins at 8:30 a.m. with a warm up. There will be a swing lesson from 9 a.m.-10 a.m.followed by work on the short game until 11 a.m. The campers work on putting from 11-11:30 a.m. which is followed by lunch and a golf video. After lunch, the campers enjoy nine holes on the par three course. Phone 770-969-4469 or stop by the center to register for the camp.

Scott Fletcher, a former major leaguer and current assistant coach at Emory university, will offer a baseball camp for players ages 13-18 at the LaFayette Educational Center in Fayetteville, Dec. 27-29 for a fee of $90. Each participant will choose which position they wish to concentrate on - pitching, catching or infield - and they can work on that position each day. The final hour of each day will focus on hitting. Phone 770-461-0618 or 404-808-1014. The camp lasts from 9 a.m.-noon each day.
