Landmark volleyball wins state championship

Landmark Christian School's volleyball team found itself contending for a state title again this year.

The team, which placed second last year, traveled to Westminster Saturday to take on Athens Academy.

Landmark won the first game 15-12 and fell behind in the second game before regaining momentum and winning 15-9. Landmark fell behind 10-2 in the third game before snapping out of it and winning 15-11. Captain Julie Van't Wout, a Peachtree City resident, lead the team with 10 blocks and 10 kills.

The team finished with an overall record of 48-4. The only losses came against teams that were particpating in their own classifications' state championships over the weekend. Other members of the team are Co-Captains Janna Murdock and Jessica Dull of Sharpsburg, Jamie Bruner and Emily Burslem and Ruthie Stacks of Fayetteville, Nikki Hanners of Brooks, Lauren Mason of Peachtree City and Rachel Brannon of Fairburn.
