Janet Kenney is new director of youth ministries at Inman

Fayette County native Janet Kenney has assumed duties as director of youth ministries at Inman United Methodist Church. Kenney grew up in the membership of Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone and was graduated from Fayette County High School.

A graduate of Emory University, she is currently enrolled in the Candler School of Theology, where she is pursuing her Master of Divinity degree.

Kenney also is a licensed professional counselor and has been a leader in several successful youth programs in the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Kenney says she is "stirring up" some new ideas for the youth program and is anxious to hear ideas from the youth of the church.

"Along with dinner and a lesson at UMYF, I'd like to include a worship time together that is less like church service and more like devotion time," Kenney said. "Christian music is one of my loves, so it will be included too. We also will plan to do a special activity on the fourth Sunday of each month."

Kenney, the daughter of Jim and Betty Mabry of Tyrone, lives in Fayetteville with her four-year-old son, Andrew.

Inman UMC is on Hills Bridge Rd. off Ga. Hwy. 92 south of Fayetteville. For more information about the church or youth programs, call 770-461-2123, or visit the church's Web site, www.inmanumc.com.
