'Time to elect one with open mind, eager ears'

One of my goals in this election was to shed some light on how important open government issues are in our daily lives. It is a right you should demand and allow no concession because it affects every single issue that our community faces. It is the only avenue we have to hold our elected officials and administration accountable for their actions.

But, instead of focusing on past mistakes, I believe it is time to look to the future and give Peachtree City a fine reputation to live up to. Dale Carnegie taught us that "any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do. But it takes character and self-control to be understanding and forgiving."

It is time to elect leaders with open minds and eager ears. Leaders who will strive to see things from another point of view. People who understand that those who take the time to disagree with them are interested in the same things they are. People who realize that there will be times when someone else will have a better idea and that their mission on City Council should be for the greater good of our community rather than for their own public-image. It is time to elect leaders with the desire to accomplish their mission and the courage to face adversity and rise above it.

My website at www.nancyfaulkner.com provides you with an insight to my goals and objectives on City Council. It explains why I am not accepting campaign donations, and why I am not posting signs around Peachtree City. If you have any questions, I'll be happy to speak with you. Please call me at 678-364-8371 or send an e-mail to nfau@bellsouth.net. I need your vote! But, more importantly, Peachtree City needs your vote!

On Nov. 6, you will elect three leaders: a mayor and two council members. Consider that three votes on City Council decide all city matters that affect us on daily basis, and you will realize that the future is truly in your hands.

Study the candidates. Listen to what they have to say. Put yourself in their shoes and try to envision their motivation. Determine who has the experience, the passion and the strength to be effective and still serve with honor. Then go out and do your part to get them elected into office.
