Health data say No to power plant

I have heard and read reliable and factual data about the proposed Williams Power Plant. I have also heard many things about the risk to our health, which is my greatest concern regarding this proposed power plant. I have tried to keep an open mind while gathering all the information that I can before I choose a position for or against this proposed power plant. Keep in mind that Fulton and Fayette counties are in the non-attainment zone for ozone pollution.

After reading these documents and visiting the website of Safeguard South Metro at www.NoPowerPlant.org, the place I received the American Lung Association materials, I could confidently make my decision about the proposed power plant based on true and factual information.

The power plant must not be constructed in this highly populated area or in an area that is in the non-attainment zone.

How can Williams, in good conscience, be willing to place a power plant in an area that will affect so many people's health? The intended plant location is within several hundred yards of the Christian City Community which houses retirees, elderly people requiring hospice care, and children at the child care facility.

I have seen the commercials for Williams Co. on television. I don't understand how Williams, who says they are a company with integrity and are dedicated to their commitment to the community, can read the same facts that I have read (American Lung Association) and still want to place this power plant near the people that are the most vulnerable. I suppose Williams sees those of us in the "affected area" as the unfortunate casualties of big business, greed and progress.

The only thing it will cost Williams to locate elsewhere is money, which they will re-coop in a few years. To us, having them here will cost us our health, longevity, and quality of life, which we will never be able to re-coop.
