'Cement ladies' helped create All Children's Playground

I encourage everyone to go take a look at the Luther T. Holt All Children's Playground at Picnic Park behind City Hall. It took a lot of volunteers to make it all happen. The flooring has yet to be installed, but it looks great.

Somehow I became the Director of Labor and at times it was difficult finding everyone a job. A group of ladies kept stating that they wanted something to do, so I said with a grin, "We are about to mix and pour some cement for the footings. Would you like to help?"

I'll be darned if they did not start hauling 45-pound bags of cement to the wheelbarrow and started mixing away. After that, they became an integral part of the assembly team. Whenever we were ready to pour some footings, I would call the "cement ladies" in to go to work. I am extremely proud of them.

It was great fun and the "cement ladies" gave me some wonderful memories that I will never forget. In Peachtree City we love our children and a good cause, and last weekend we proved it.
