Fayette Flames have a busy summer planned The Fayette Flames are back on track, summer track that is. The Fayette County Track Association Inc. is hosting a "Sprinter Speed and Development Clinic" for youth athletes aged 7-17 who want to become better runners and work on goal-setting. The youth track club, the Fayette Flames, practices Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. at the Fayette County High School Tiger Stadium track on Tiger Trail in Fayetteville. Running events from the 800-meter down to the 50-meter are part of this developmental session. Beginning Tuesdays from June 19-July 17, the Flames team also will attend practice meets sponsored by the Peachtree City Running Club from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the McIntosh High School track in Peachtree City. The team also will compete in this summer's Georgia Games June 16 (District 4 qualifier). Advances will then go on to compete in the Georgia Games Championships at Life University in Marietta, July 20-21. The Flames do not participate in Sunday meets. Flames practices are conducted rain or shine. On rainy days the team meets inside where the athletes discuss track and field and complete exercises designed especially for runners.
