Landmark girls capture state track title By MICHAEL

The state track meet for high school girls was held last week and the Landmark Christian School girls won the state title. The team amassed 148 total points to capture the Class A championship. The girls had 10 number-one finishes in the meet, three second-place finishes and 19 top-five finishes overall. Lindsey Vincent placed first in the long jump with a jump of 17'0.00" and placed second in the triple jump with a jump of 35'3.00" and second in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:25.424. Rashedah Arnold placed first in the 100-meter dash and the 200 meter dash with times of 11.94 and 25.213 respectively. Ashley Key placed first in the high jump with a jump of 5'4.350", second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.299 and fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.395. The relay teams also did well. The 1,600-meter relay team finished first with a time of 3:59.826 and the 400-meter relay team finished first with a time of 48.326. Sarah King won the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.481. She placed third in the triple jump with a jump of 34'5.00" and fourth in the 300-meter low hurdles with a time of 48.943. Emily Wood placed first in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:21.451 and Sierra Hill placed first in the 100-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 14.711 and first in the 300-meter low hurdles with a time of 43.879. Melissa Register had a fourth-place finish in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:36.441 and a fifth-place finish in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:44. Layla Constable finished fourth in the 100-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 16.661. In other track meets, Fayette County's Megan Byrd placed fifth in the high jump in the AAAAA meet with a jump of 5'4." |
