Holly Grove Church to have open house, historic displays

As a part of National Trust Preservation Week, May 13-19, Holly Grove A.M.E. Church in Peachtree City will have an open house Saturday, May 19, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., featuring church history displays.

In addition, members are asking other congregations from churches in the area to come and share their historic items farm implements, cookware, handwork and embroidery pieces, wedding pictures and school pictures anything used in the 19th century which tells the story of the lives of people in Fayette County.

Activities for the day include a discussion of Fayette County history by the Fayette County Historian, Carolyn Cary, exhibits of 19th century items, exhibit of a War of 1812 veteran's grave site, exhibits of the history of churches in Fayette County, photos of historic grave sites in Peachtree City, and various photos and exhibits of Fayette County schools in the 19th century.
