Chamber hosts politicos The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce Existing Industry Committee hosted its quarterly luncheon at the Fayette Family YMCA lodge on April 12. The purpose of the meeting was to bring Chamber members, Existing Industry Committee members, and guests up to date on action that could have impact upon the Chamber Members and their employees by the state legislature at the recently completed legislative session. Chris Clark, President/CEO of the Fayette County Development Authority and Existing Industry Committee Co-Chair introduced the legislators which included Senator Mitch Seabaugh, 28th District; Senator Greg Hecht, 34th District, and Lynn Westmoreland, State Representative form District 104. Unable to attend was Kathy Cox, State Representative from District 105. The luncheon was followed by a discussion period providing an excellent opportunity for the public to pose questions and discuss legislative concerns. Senator Seabaugh stated, "Meetings such as this are great for the public as well as for us. What I would encourage is more direct input from the public as far as what they think we legislators need to do; please don't think that someone else will pass your concerns along to us." The meeting was attended by approximately 50 Chamber members and guests with lunch provided by DuRoc Café. Darrell Cutts, Fayette County Chamber of Commerce Chairman of the Board stated, "I would like to thank the legislators for being so open and honest with us and willing to spend time with us, for that the Chamber of Commerce is very grateful."
