Pastor chooses 'survivors and overcomers' as Sunday topic

Picking up on the popular television series, "Survivor," the Rev. John Hatcher, pastor of River's Edge Baptist Church, says he will contrast the mentality of a "survivor" with that of an "overcomer" in his Easter Sunday sermon.

"The survivor mentality excludes and ostracizes while the overcomer mentality embraces the challenge, overcomes difficulties, and is successful when others also overcome." Hatcher says. "Overcomers do not just survive, but rejoice in the victory over rejection, defeat, racism and all of the other favored toys of the devil."

The Easter service at River's Edge will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday and will conclude at 11:30 a.m. Guests are encouraged to come in their Easter best or their most comfortable denim jeans, Hatcher says.

River's Edge is at 1091 South Jeff Davis Drive in Fayetteville.
