Nativity announces Holy Week activities

The Episcopal Church of the Nativity will mark the beginning of Holy Week, Sunday April 8, with the people of the Catholic Church of St. Gabriel's.

Both congregations will meet on the lawn of St. Gabriel's at 10:30 a.m. for the blessing and distribution of palms. Members of each congregation will then proceed to their respective sanctuaries for Palm Sunday services.

Wednesday, April 11, Evensong and a Service of Healing, with the anointing of oil and laying-on of hands, will take place at 7 p.m.

Maundy Thursday, April 12, the Holy Eucharist with washing of feet will take place at 7:30 p.m.

Good Friday services include The Way of the Cross at noon, (weather permitting, this will be outdoors) and the Good Friday liturgy with a service of the Word and the Veneration of the Cross at 3 and 7 p.m.

Holy Saturday, April 14, a Vigil Prayer will take place at noon.

Easter Sunday will begin at 6 a.m. with the Great vigil of Easter, the New Fire, and services of Light, Word, Baptism and the First Eucharist of Easter. Easter breakfast will follow the early service.

The Festal Holy Eucharist and the Flowering of the Cross will begin at 10 a.m. followed by an egg hunt.
