Pilots forget they're part of a team

God bless this person. I was employed by Delta for 35 years and was able to retire two years ago. I didn't want to leave the company but the attitudes of the pilot group has made it a very different place to work.

While I agree that many years ago there was a need to have collective bargaining, I seriously wonder if what is happening today is in the best interest of anyone.

In order for the coal miners of yesteryear to have some protection in terms of children being kept out of the mines or safe working conditions to remain a priority, the thinking today is very different. Lockheed shipbuilding in Seattle is now nothing more than a memory because of the obvious greed of those following the direction of their union leaders. The same is true of Eastern Airlines and many other major corporations.

I once heard a Delta pilot make the statement that the only difference between pilots and all other employees was that they happened to learn how to fly an airplane. Simplistic as his statement was, I wish that today's pilots felt the same way. They are not special, but rather a part of a team that many of us spent a lifetime building.
