No complaints about pilot pay here

The writer of Wednesday's castigation of Russell Switzer cannot have known Russell Switzer personally, or surely he would have picked another person on whom to vent his rage.

What is harder to understand is why the editors allowed this writer to hide behind "name withheld" and then failed to give the same consideration to Mr. Switzer. Editors are supposed to edit.

Mr. Switzer's interviews in the local media were widely read. Many, myself included, did not find his case on pilot pay and benefits especially compelling.

But until I am prepared to set down an aircraft with 150 passengers on an icy runway in the dark of night while fighting a blustery crosswind, I will not complain about how much he is paid.
