4-H: No whining
here
I enjoyed reading [the] follow-up letter concerning my "written attack" of Ms. Buchanan's letter. I do not feel I was attacking anyone, just making an observation. Let me add a few things: First off, neither I, nor anyone I know, has anything to do with the 4-H shooting program in Fayette County. Therefore, travelling 30 to 45 minutes to Bear Creek is not "time-consuming" for me. I commend the fact that you drive your children to wherever their activities take them. One day when I have children, I'm sure I will do the same. And I'm sorry that you don't think that outside activities like these boost children's self-confidence, but I work in a school and I know how important these things can be to a student's development. I do hope that your community and 4-H can come to some sort of agreement soon, because I am not one to wish discomfort on a neighbor. As far as bringing "discredit" to 4-H, I send a heartfelt apology to anyone involved in the Cooperative Extension Service who might feel that I have tarnished their image in any way. I participated in 4-H for five years, went to Rock Eagle three times, and won the District Project Achievement for playing piano three times. I'm graduating from the University of Georgia in May with my bachelor of science in education after working my way through school. So, 4-H, I'm sorry to have become such a failure. I hope you can sleep at night knowing that you had such a scoundrel like myself in your program for so many years. Melissa Payne Fayetteville
