Local soccer teams prepapre for big week

McIntosh traveled to Newnan High School last Friday night and both the boys and the girls won. The girls, ranked first in the state and nation, defeated the Lady Cougars 9-0, while the boys defeated Newnan 9-1.

The Lady Chiefs got a solid performance from everyone on the team. Melanie Schneider had two goals and Julie Herdic had three goals. McIntosh built up a 3-0 lead at the half and exploded for six more goals in the following 40 minutes.

The boys got a goal from Gardner Dale and five from Matt Clements in their win. The McIntosh boys are currently ranked fourth in AAAAA.

The boys were scheduled to host Roswell Monday night, while the girls played Fayette County last night. Both the boys and girls will play at home Friday night against Eagle's Landing. The girls will play at 6 p.m. and the boys will play at 8 p.m.

The boys will play at Clarke Central Saturday at 3 p.m., while the girls will host Westminster Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Starr's Mill's girls, ranked fourth in AAAAA, faced Parkview, ranked third in AAAAA, last Saturday evening. The game was evenly matched but Starr's Mill came out victorious.

The game was tied 0-0 at the half but the Lady Panthers came out in the second half and scored in the 67th minute of the game. Senior Alice Martin scored the goal that gave Starr's Mill the win.

The Lady Panthers faced Walton last night and will play at Morrow Thursday at 4:45 p.m. and at Evans Friday at 5:30 p.m.The boys team faced Morrow Tuesday night and will also be makng the trip to Evans Friday.

The Fayette County girls game against Sprayberry was postponed. They played at McIntosh last night and will host Riverdale next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The boys will play at East Coweta Friday at 7:30 p.m. and will host Riverdale next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Sandy Creek's boys and girls played in the East Coweta tournament last week. The Lady Patriots lost to East Coweta, 9-3 in the first game and then lost to Northgate 3-1. The boys also lost to Northgate 5-1. Sandy Creek will play at Creekside at 5 p.m. Thursdy and will play at Heritage at 7:30 p.m. Friday. They will host Pike County next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
