Pair celebrates 100th birthday Fayetteville's Homer Lee Pair celebrated his 100th birthday on Jan, 24, 2001. He was born Jan, 24, 1901, in Atlanta, the oldest of three siblings. His parents raised their children in the Lakewood Heights area of Atlanta. Pair's career began at age 18, when he was employed as a book binder. He worked for Foote & Davies for 32 years, then for Marbut Book Binding for 20 years, while also owning and operating his own grocery store, South Bend Grocery, which existed for about 30 years. Pair was married in 1927 to Jewell Henderson of Buford, his wife of 69 years, until her death in 1997. Mr. and Mrs. Pair were members of South Bend United Methodist Church for 55 years. He was also a member of Lakewood United Methodist church. A lifetime native of Atlanta, Pair now resides in Fayetteville. He celebrated his 100th birthday with family and friends. |
