Fisharama returns to Atlanta this weekend

It certainly will not be a fowl affair at Fisharama this weekend, although country music fans will spot a Byrd there this weekend Tracy Byrd, that is.

Byrd is a renowned country star with passions for hunting and fishing. Before finding success in Nashville, Byrd dreamed of becoming a pro bass angler with his own television program.

He inherited his love for the outdoors from his grandmother. At the age of 3, he began tagging along with her on fishing excursions; later they would hunt together. Byrd's grandmother is now 80, but went on a turkey shoot last year with him and killed a big tom.

Byrd will be in the Your Atlanta Area Ford Store Seminar Hall at the Atlanta Expo Center Sunday, Feb. 4, at noon. He can also be seen at the SOF-Spoon booth 110.

Fisharama is an annual trade show and educational fund-raising event sponsored by the Georgia Wildlife Federation. There are demonstrations and seminars from some of the nation's top anglers, great deals on equipment, contests, raffles and entertainment. Proceeds from Fisharama go toward such programs as Schoolyard Wildlife Habitat programs, educational materials, and the Georgia Wildlife Federation Alcovy Conservation Center in Covington.

The Atlanta Fisharama will be Feb. 2-4 at the Atlanta Expo Center, exit 55 at I-285. The show will run from 1-9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for seniors and children ages 6-12. Children under 6 are admitted free.
