River's Edge Church plans 2000-candle cake and 'birthday for Jesus' celebration on Christmas Eve

Members of River's Edge Community Church will have a special celebration on Christmas Eve, singing 'happy birthday' to Jesus and lighting 2000 candles on a birthday cake.

River's Edge Senior Pastor Dr. John Hatcher says sheet cakes are being baked by members and will be assembled Sunday afternoon, Dec. 24, in time for the 5:30 p.m. Candlelight service.

"It will require some 40 people, strategically stationed, to light all 2000 candles before any one candle burns down," Hatcher said.
