Did Grinch steal Fayetteville's Christmas spirit this year?

It is very depressing to drive into Fayetteville another year and get little or no indication that this is the Christmas season. What is wrong with Fayetteville?

Just about every little town in Georgia has beautiful Christmas decorations, with the exception of Fayetteville. Drive into Fayette Pavilion at night and it looks just as it did in July. What happened to the Christmas spirit?

In 1985, Charlotte Griggs and I contributed $1000 through Beautiful Fayette to the city of Fayetteville for Christmas decorations. I personally contributed another $500. We wrongly thought that this would help to get a Christmas decoration program started. Somewhere it died.

The entire Fayetteville City Council should take a trip over to McDonough at night and see what can be done. Are all these little towns wrong and Fayetteville right?

I am deeply ashamed that we have no Christmas spirit in Fayetteville.

McDonough has more decoration on side streets than Fayetteville has in the whole town.

What is this Main Street program for? Over a million or more dollars in grants and city money and nothing for Christmas.

Someone just does not realize how much these decorations contribute to the human spirit and to businesses in general. Where did we go wrong?
