PTC drivers, beware of left turn lanes

I was recently issued a traffic ticket while driving eastbound on Ga. Highway 54 at the Ga. Highway 74 intersection. My offense was that I passed over the yellow lines in the left turn lane.

Anyone who has made a left turn at that intersection knows how inadequate the lane markings are, and waiting in the yellow marked part of the left turn lane is common practice. There is only room for a few cars to stop in the left turn lane at a time.

Well, I happened to be ticketed by a Georgia State Patrolman who was passing through Peachtree City. According to my ticket I "passed in a safety zone."

I just wanted to warn other west side drivers that you may be ticketed also at that intersection and to beware. I guess those of us making a left turn are supposed to block traffic in the straight-through lane to wait for the green arrow and the left lane to clear.

I'm really looking forward to the Home Depot and Wal-Mart traffic. NOT!
