Lexington Park rezoning raises some questions

n the Wednesday Oct. 18 issue of The Citizen I read an article by John Munford entitled, "PTC may lift multifamily housing moratorium."

The article describes the proposed changes to the Lexington Park/Lexington Circle development at Ga. Highway 54 and Walt Banks Road. The article reads that the changes are being sought to "make the project more economically viable."

The obvious question is: More economically viable for whom?

I'm to understand that a developer who has been in business in this area for years just now realized that they may have underestimated the profit potential of this development? A development that took years to develop!

As I see it, this is just one of the more creative ways to get the city to agree to additional housing that the developer always intended to have. If the front door is closed, the back door may still be open approach. I find it extremely difficult to believe that Bob Adams Homes, emphasis on the word "Homes," just now realized that they made a mistake in their calculations.

Am I the only city resident that thinks:

1. Our schools may have too many students, too few classrooms and not enough teachers to go around?

2. Traffic congestion may be a problem in our area?

3. We don't have enough police officers or firefighters to go around now?

If our elected city council accepts the argument that "making a project more economically viable for the developer" is justification for this and agrees to these changes, than I can't wait for the city council to run for reelection.
