Mark Johnson resumes duties at Christ the King

Father Mark Johnson of Sharpsburg recently resumed his priestly duties at Christ the King Church in Peachtree City. For the past year, Johnson has served, at the appointment of the Bishop of Georgia, as the Vicar of Church of the Good Shepherd in Milledgeville. Before his arrival, the small missions congregation was meeting Sunday afternoons in the dining room of a private residence. Under Johnson's leadership, the congregation acquired facilities in downtown Milledgeville, renovated the facilities and moved the services to Sunday mornings. He also initiated mid-week Bible studies at the church.

“Fr. Johnson did more than we asked him to do in Milledgeville,” said the Right Rev. John W. Holloway, Bishop of Ga. “We're very pleased with the work he did among the members of this middle Georgia congregation.”

Christ the King Rector Fr. David Epps said, “Mark has been a great example for us all. Not only did he do a tremendous work at Church of the Good Shepherd, he was also continuing to perform duties at Christ the King. Our folks are thrilled to have him back on a full-time basis.”

Johnson, A graduate of Lee University, is completing work for the Master of Ministry degree at St. Michael's Seminary and is expected to graduate later this year. He was an ordained minister for ten years in the Assemblies of God prior to being ordained to the priesthood. He also serves as a chaplain for the Peachtree City police Department.

Johnson and his wife, Natalie, have three children.
