Man carjacked along Redwine RoadTue, 01/12/2010 - 5:13pm
By: Ben Nelms
A Fayette County man was carjacked last week near Redwine Road after being followed from his business on Old National Highway. The man was not injured in the incident. The carjacking occurred after the delicatessen owner left his business on Jan. 7 between 9:30-10:00 p.m. to go home, said Fayetteville Police spokesperson Steve Crawshaw. The man told investigators that, at some point, he began to suspect that a car was following him, Crawshaw said. The carjacking occurred after the man turned onto a dead-end street off Redwine Road to turn around, said Crawshaw. The man turned around in the cul-de-sac and pulled up to the stop sign at the end of the street when two men exited a gold colored sedan and approached his vehicle, brandishing handguns and ordering him out of the vehicle, Crawshaw said. The man complied and was robbed of an undisclosed amount of business cash in his wallet, said Crawshaw. The two men then entered the vehicle and drove away, Crawshaw said, adding that the victim was not injured in the carjacking. Crawshaw also said that the man said he had been robbed in his own cul-de-sac in August. A check of dispatch records from August showed no report of that incident, Crawshaw said. login to post comments |
