Snow for Fayette Thurs. afternoonMon, 01/04/2010 - 2:07pm
By: John Munford
Fayette residents hoping for snow may get their wish starting Thursday afternoon. The area could get upwards of one inch of the white stuff and perhaps more, according to the latest forecast available early Tuesday afternoon from the National Weather Service. The storm is expected to begin Thursday afternoon, ending around 1 or 2 a.m. Friday morning, according to Sean Ryan, a NWS forecaster in Peachtree City. Following the storm, temperatures Friday are expected to reach the upper 30s, but Saturday will turn frigid with the high staying in the 20s, Ryan said. “That would be the coldest day we’ve seen in quite a while,” Ryan said. Meanwhile, meteorologists are keeping their eye on a low pressure system off the gulf coast. If that system takes a northern track, it could increase the amount of snow metro Atlanta will get, Ryan said. Metro Atlanta is predicted to get as much as two inches of snow due to the storm system. Icy roads have already played havoc on Atlanta commuters this week, and Thursday’s storm is expected to also cause trouble for motorists. login to post comments |
