FreeSpeech for 04-29-09Tue, 04/28/2009 - 3:07pm
By: The Citizen
Listen up: The drought is over, the drought is over! Or, should I say the 2008 Phony Excuse To Raise Our Water Bill is not valid anymore. So, Fayette Water System, how about retracting the almost 10 percent increase that we have been forced to pay. What is your new justificiation for this ridiculous increase? - - - - - - - - - - - So a developer now wants to rezone another part of Peachtree City and further erode the village concept we love. Would anyone care to guess which three City Council members will vote for it and which two will vote against it? - - - - - - - - - - - To the person who wrote in Free Speech last week about printing out shipping labels online but then having to stand in line at the post office for 20 minutes to mail the packages: I too print out my shipping label online, but then while on the USPS website I click on “Schedule a Pickup,” fill in the information and the next day my mailman picks up my packages at my front door. No going to the PO and standing in line. - - - - - - - - - - - This new portion of the cart path in PTC just south of Booth Middle School on the other side of the parkway has been designed by Six Flags. It features loop-de-loops and 310-degree turns. It’s really a velodrome (look it up!) in disguise. Instead of charging admission, we taxpayers will get to pay for this for years to come. Harold Logsdon will recommend next week that the BMX bike track be closed to save us money. He feels this is our best alternative. He has mentioned he might be the be the first one to use it, probably after the 12 midnight closing time at Y-Knot. It has been mentioned that a 3-2 vote might nix this little show of cartsmanship. Stay tuned for more antics to come; I know you can’t wait. - - - - - - - - - - - I’m calling out the City Council of Peachtree City on this one. You fired all those young men who worked so hard cutting our grass and keeping the city looking so good. There was a bunch of baloney about getting the contract company to hire the guys. I noticed today what a shoddy job the new company is doing on the grass. The part that really made the hair on the back of my neck stand up was the entire Tru-Green crew was foreign workers. I’ve got to say I don’t expect much out of this council, but replacing hard-working American workers who grew up in the area with Mexicans is disgraceful. Someone needs his behind kicked out of the Kiwanis Club over this one. My husband didn’t fly over jungles day after day in Vietnam with his family praying for his safe return to see a bunch of foreign workers take over jobs here at home. It’s bad enough when our American jobs are sent overseas, but it hurts even worse to see them taking our jobs right down the road. - - - - - - - - - - - Hey, Peachtree City, cut your grass on Ga. Highway 74 south of Hwy. 54 and at Glenloch recreation area. - - - - - - - - - - - As a parent that likes to watch my child play baseball at the BSC, I am annoyed by those who smoke near the field. I am disgusted to pick up cigarette butts. I am annoyed by the sound of your spitting sunflower seeds. I am annoyed to have to clean them up off the bleachers. I am annoyed that I have to sit on the opposing team’s side as not to listen to the dogs whimper, cry and bark. I am disgusted that I have to pick up after your dog. Come on people, think of the others around you. - - - - - - - - - - - Hey, blue NAPA store on Ga. Highway 85 with three men behind the counter: I was the only customer in the store and you didn’t have time to even acknowledge I was standing at the counter waiting for assistance. But that’s OK. I drove to AutoZone and they were more than willing to help me. - - - - - - - - - - - I am 50 years old and a professional who has worked very hard to get where I am today without help from anyone, including the government. My parents were poor and began working at the age of 13. I worked three jobs to pay for my own college education and have never asked anyone for a single penny. I make a very good living and I am a very considerate and compassionate person. I am willing to give you the shirt off my back if you are in need and make an effort to help yourself and never expect anything in return. Yes, I currently am in the highest tax bracket and always pay my fair share of taxes. Obama is considering raising the tax brackets to increase my taxes to pay for those individuals who are lazy and expect the government to support them. So I have worked hard for over 35 years, and I am now expected to give up what I have worked hard for and to give it to individuals who know they don’t have to do anything to receive money from the government. So guess what I and millions of other professionals are going to do? We are going to retire, quit our jobs, close our practices or businesses, reduce our income, drop to a lower tax bracket or file for unemployment and live off the government like the other lazy people. Why should we work hard to pay for them when we can do the same? When all of us do that, where is Obama going to get money to support us all? To all those lazy people out there living off the government, move over and save me a spot at the unemployment office and food stamp line. It’s time for me to retire and obtain my FAIR share. - - - - - - - - - - - Obama’s vision of bringing people together is officially a failure. Let’s see: We’ve lost the faith of our allies. Instead of taking the lead in fixing the “global economic crisis,” we’re taking the blame, and they are criticizing our move toward socialism, knowing first-hand the outcome, breaking trade agreements with our neighbor while taking the blame for their domestic war, blaming Canada for 9/11, environmentalist against environmentalist in the fight for a “greener nation.” Feminist against feminist considering Palin. Left vs. left on every single “wish list” item ever promised. Consumer against Big Business, the latter needing the stimulation to provide the former jobs. Taxpayers vs. Freeloaders. Liberals against everyone’s right to free speech but their own. Just as we’ve all worked so hard to become ultra-PC, the PC police cannot be found as hate-speech is popular as long as it targets everything to the right and white. The administration is against everyone: domestic business, people who don’t want their strings-attached bailouts, high earners, the last administration, any private citizen that disagrees with them publicly, Christians, Catholics, veterans, people who believe in their constitutional rights, Libertarians, Independents, Conservatives, Republicans, and all others indicated in the DHS and Minnesota reports to law officials on who to profile. As a matter of fact, the only ones who seem to have a smile on their face are those who’ve declared us as enemies. Just as the administration has taken the lead in fragmenting this nation, they have also taken the lead at placating all those anti-America: bowing to them, pandering to them, apologizing to them, arming them with the knowledge necessary to effectively fight the good fight against the U.S., ignoring their threats and warmly smiling while listening to their anti-America vitriol. Of course we all knew he had a problem paying attention during speeches; remember Wright? I hope every single person that voted for the death of our Constitution, the end to our republic and the socialism/communism coming down the track got what you paid for. You know, you could have done patriots a favor and just moved to Iran, North Korea, or Venezuela. - - - - - - - - - - - Christianity is under attack? By whom? Oh, certainly there are Islamic extremists and a few other extremists, but it is hardly being persecuted off the face of the earth (at least not in the U.S.). So quit being so overly dramatic. When have you been forbidden to practice your religion? Oh, I know, you can’t say your prayer in public school. You can’t have a manger on government property, etc. But that is a ruling of the Supreme Court. That isn’t an attack on Christianity, it is only keeping government from influencing (positive or negative) religion. It is keeping government OUT of all religions. Yeah, I know the argument about prayer in school. But would you support prayer in school if the teacher is Islamic and has everyone kneel on prayer rugs, face Mecca, and chant, “Allah Akbah?” Hmmm .... I doubt it. So when you scream about prayer in school, you really mean your prayer in school, not necessarily mine. And I ask you this, does God know what is in your heart? According to my church, yes. Therefore I can pray anytime, anywhere, silently and reverently. This includes school, work, government meetings, sporting events. No one even needs to know. Oh, maybe that’s your problem. It isn’t that you need to pray out loud, it’s that you want everyone around you to know you’re praying. And why? Because it makes you feel superior. You have some need to wear your religion on your shirtsleeve. Well, what if it conflicts with my religion? Do you want me publicly challenging you with a different religious prayer or chant? Somehow I doubt it. So when you go to church on Sunday, look around. Realize how free you really are to practice your religion. You can attend any church, practice any religion, and worship any God you want. You do this without any interference from local, state, or federal govt. and free from any objection from other citizens. That is true religious freedom. So stop whining and spend your time practicing your religion, and let me practice mine. login to post comments |
