Carriage Lane Presbyterian completes summer mission schedule

Members of Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church are wrapping up a busy summer of mission service both stateside and around the world.

From May 31 to June 13, a team of 14 senior high youth and their leaders were in Huancavalica, Peru, a town located 13,000 feet up in the Andes Mountains of South America.

"They reached out to hundreds of children and their families," a spokesperson said." They led a Vacation Bible School ministry, performed soccer evangelism, discipled and encouraged youth, and led a pastor's conference for Peruvian pastors and elders."

From July 19-Aug. 1, a group of 21 junior high youth and their leaders traveled to the Cherokee Nation in North Carolina where they have an ongoing ministry.

"This summer they continued their mission of glorifying God," the spokesperson continued. "They held Vacation Bible School, painted, reroofed a house, sang in a nursing home and built relationships with families who are lost spiritually and in need of saving faith."

Adults at the church traveled to Rio Verde, Goias, Brazil, where they witnessed and worked with "street boys," conducted Vacation Bible School for about 100 children, and helped with construction of a home for five or six boys and their house parents.

In addition to group missions, two members are involved in individual missions. Beth Gaylor is participating in street evangelism in London and Paris through Global Challenge, and Lisa Cunningham is assisting full-time missionaries in Bangkok, Thailand, working with street children and teaching English to the local population.

Over the past several years, the church also has sent four mission teams to Romania and three teams to the Czech Republic.

"Carriage Lane has a real burden for those in need of a saving relationship with Christ," the spokesperson said. "Our members have a heart for missions around the world and at home."

Carriage Lane, on the corner of Ga. Hwy. 54 and Carriage Lane in Peachtree City, is in the process of building a new, larger sanctuary.
