Annual quick-turner reunion september 9

The 8th annual reunion of descendants of Eli and Drucilla Turner Quick, originally in Inman, is Sept. 9.

The event takes place at the New Salem Baptist Church in Griffin. It will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 2 p.m.

Eli and Drucilla were married in Fayette County in 1829. There are Quicks and Turners who settled in Fayette, Spalding, Coweta, and Pike counties.

If you are related through Mary Jane Middlebrooks, Etta Tapley, Roland Mal,Wells or Wills Quick, Minerva and John Wesley Turner, Sarah and Franklin Stuffs, William and Sarah Quick, Colin Missouri Quick, David Quick, or Eliza Louise Thomas, you are encouraged to attend.

Please bring along a covered dish, pictures, and any pertinent memorabilia.

The theme this year is honoring the armed forces family members, and you are asked to bring pictures of family members in uniform.

The featured speaker is Diane Wood, a descendant of W. M. Quick, a son of Eli and Drucilla.

To reach the New Salem Baptist Church, located in north Griffin at 113 New Salem Road, going south from Fayetteville, travel down Ga. Highway 92 South, to just over the Flint River and take Vaughn Road to your right. Go until you reach New Salem Road and turn left. The church is on the left.
