Georgia Borders is a concrete landscape edging company specializing in containing, contouring and creating a beautiful new look for your lawn. Concrete curbing is an easy and long-lasting alternative to tradition flower bed edging. Unlike wood that can rot or individual bricks that can shift or come loose over time, concrete edging does not require maintenance and can last for many years.

Georgia Borders owners Clint and Amber Allen have over 12 years of experience in concrete edging. The couple relocated their company to Atlanta in 2001 and are the only company that services all of metro Atlanta. “I started doing edging as a way to get through college, but when college was over I had so many landscapers and referrals that we continued the business,” Clint explains. “Moving to Atlanta gave us the opportunity to curb year round, and we love meeting people from all over the metroplex.”

Curbing is a simple process that does not damage existing beds. First, the ground is marked where the curb will go and a small patch of sod is removed. Concrete is mixed on site and extruded in one continuous curb. Finally, the curb is smoothed or textured to look like stone or brick, and small joints are cut to prevent cracking once the concrete dries. There are seven different styles of curb to choose from, and many finishing and color options to match your home. For those wanting an additional feature, Georgia Borders offers a special lighting option that allows you to showcase your edging both day and night by installing flexible rope lighting into the concrete curb for a unique effect. Step by step pictures are available the company’s Web site at www.georgiaborders.com.

Concrete curbing from Georgia Borders ranges from $4.50 to $8.25 per foot, depending on the chosen style and finish, and most homes average 250 to 350 feet of edging. But Clint warns that once you start, it may be hard to stop.
“We have one customer who has had us come to his house five times; he now has about 2,500 feet of curbing around his yard,” Clint explains. “He says that each time we come he loves our work so much that he decides to create new planting islands so we can come back and lay more curb.”

To see some first-hand examples of Georgia Border’s work, visit their Web site’s job references section. A unique feature allows visitors to plug in a zip code or subdivision and instantly get an address of a previous job site along with a description of the work done. “Our customers’ yards become our showroom,” Clint says. The company will also bring samples when they conduct a free estimate on your property.

Georgia Borders can be reached Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. by calling 770-345-2558. More information about products, the curbing process, estimates and pricing is available online at www.georgiaborders.com.
