Whitewater splits in two region games, defeats Sandy Creek in eight inningsTue, 09/05/2006 - 2:36pm

The Whitewater softball team faced region opponents Starr’s Mill and Fayette County last week and then took on local rivals, the Sandy Creek Lady Patriots. The Lady Wildcats went 2-1, losing to Starr’s Mill 1-0, beating Fayette County 4-0 and defeating Sandy Creek 4-3 in extra innings. Starr’s Mill’s Tiffany Taylor drove in the winning run against Whitewater. In Whitewater’s game with Fayette County, pitcher Ashley Pedersen threw a one-hitter, struck out eight batters and hit a two run home run. The two other runs were driven in by Haley Richards and Lauren Moyer. In the Sandy Creek game, Whitewater took an early lead but Sandy Creek kept coming back. The Lady Wildcats were led by Megan Glaze, who went 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored, while Audrey Trammell went 1-for-1 with an RBI, Brittany Bishop went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and Pedersen went 2-for 4. Sandy Creek’s runs came from a sacrifice fly from Megan Kallatsa, an error and an RBI single from Candace Dunn. Whitewater will play at Banneker today and will play in a tournament in Columbus this weekend. Starr’s Mill will take on Creekside at 5 p.m. today and will host Luella tomorrow at 7 p.m., while Fayette County will take on Woodward Academy today at 6 p.m. McIntosh will be on the road today at Westlake at 5 p.m. and will take on Woodward Academy tomorrow at 5 p.m. Landmark Christian will host Fellowship Christian at 5 p.m. tomorrow. Our Lady of Mercy plays at Mt. Paran tomorrow and will host Mt. Zion, Carroll on Saturday at 1 p.m. login to post comments |
