Beauty pageant to kick-off N. Georgia fair

The annual North Georgia State Fair Beauty Pageant will kick-off opening day activities for the fair at Jim R. Miller Park, 2245 Callaway Rd. in Marietta on September 21. The reigning Miss North Georgia State Fair is Alexandra Stanford, the 18-year-old daughter of David and Cindy Stanford of Peachtree City. “Pick Your Own Fun” is the theme for the 10-day fair which ends Oct. 1.

The Tiny Miss North Georgia State Fair (3-4 years) is the first of seven contests starting at 6 p.m. Other titleholders will be named for Petite (5-6 years), Little (7-9 years), Pre-Teen (10-12 years), Junior (13-15 years), Teen (16-17 years) and Miss (18-24 years). Winners will be named after each contest held on the stage of the covered main arena. The pageant attracts entries from across the north Georgia area.

Judges will include Amanda Kozak, Miss Georgia 2006, who will vie for the Miss America title next January. Contestants will be judged on a scale of 1 to 10 in beauty, poise and personality.

All beauty winners will receive a tiara, sash, trophy, flowers, passes to the fair and a stuffed animal. They will have the opportunity to ride in parades and make public appearances during the coming year.
