Glenn Ivy Martin, a 2000 graduate of FCHS, graduated from the Warnell School of Forest Resources at the University of Georgia in December 2005. He received a bachelor of science degree in forest resources, with a dual emphasis in wildlife management and environmental assessment. While at UGA, Martin was appointed to the dean’s list and the Xi Sigma Pi Forest Resources Honor Society. He has spent the past year employed as an environmental consultant in Greenville, S.C. Currently, Martin resides on Ossabaw Island and conducts sea turtle research and invasive species management for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

• Army Reserve Pvt. Barbara J. Baker has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises. She is the daughter of John Baker and Micha Baker, both of Fayetteville, Ga. and a 2005 of Georgia Technical College in Griffin.

Rachel Lauren Swafford graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science in management from the Georgia Institute of Technology on May 6. She moved to New York City in July to begin her job with an investment firm on Wall Street. Swafford is a 2001 graduate of Fayette County High School and is the daughter of Bobby and Jo Ann Swafford of Fayetteville.

Erica K. Frederick, a freshman at Georgia Southern University, has been named to the president’s list for the spring 2006 semester. Students must achieve a perfect 4.0 grade point average with a minimum of 12 credit hours for the semester to be named to the president’s list. Frederick is a pre-business major from Peachtree City, Ga.

Barbara Pittman is the new Mortgage Loan Originator at the Peachtree City branch of Neighborhood Community Bank. Pittman has lived and worked in Fayette county since 1976 and has been in the banking and finance industry for over 30 years. She currently resides in Peachtree City. She has two daughters, Nikki and Joely and two grandchildren, Lindsey and Joel.
