A party at a Palmetto residence Aug. 25 following a high school football game resulted in a fight and one man shot in the arm.

Eighteen year-old Palmetto resident Donald Baitey was shot in the left arm after a fight broke out at a residence at 509 Carlton Circle following a football game between Creekside High School and North Clatyon High School, according to Palmetto Det. John Cooper.

Cooper said students had been invited to the residence for a party following the game, but the climate at the party changed as more people began arriving. With numbers totaling 40-50 or more at the residence, a fight erupted for unknown reasons, Cooper said. At one point during the altercation, shots were fired and Baitey was struck once in his left arm, Cooper said. Officers recovered six spent rounds and one live round from a .380 caliber handgun in the street, Cooper said.

The investigation into the shooting and the incident is ongoing. Anyone with information relating to this incident is asked to contact Det. John Cooper at (770) 463-9068.
