The weather has played a bit of havoc with the high school softball schedule but some local teams have been able to get in some region games recently.

Last Thursday, the Northgate Lady Vikings got a 4-3 win over McIntosh to earn their first region win of the season and to hand McIntosh their first region loss of the year. McIntosh’s Morgan Kidd struck out 10 in the loss and Northgate’s Rachelle Adkins drove in the game-winner late in the game.

McIntosh took on Fayette County last night after the paper went to press and will play at Westlake next Wednesday at 5 p.m. Northgate will take on Cherokee at Kennesaw State University next Tuesday night at 7:15 p.m.

East Coweta, which defeated Newnan 4-1 last Thursday, got a 15-0 win in three innings over Tri-Cities this past Tuesday, thanks to a lot of walks, errors and wild pitches. The Lady Indians played at Paulding County last night and will play at Morrow next Wednesday.

Starr’s Mill picked up a region win over Whitewater Tuesday night when Tiffany Taylor drove in Ashley Clontz for the winning run in the Lady Panthers 1-0 victory. Pitcher Paige Peurifoy struck out eight batters in the win. Starr’s Mill will host Creekside next Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Whitewater followed the loss on Tuesday with a 4-0 win over Fayette County on Wednesday. Ashley Pedersen threw a one hitter with eight strikeouts and also belted a two-run home run in the win. Haley Richards and Lauren Moyer drove in the other two runs.

The Lady Wildcats played Sandy Creek last night and will play at Banneker next Wednesday.
Sandy Creek picked up a 1-0 win over Chapel Hill on Monday.

Landmark Christian got a 6-1 win over Mt. Paran on Tuesday and pitcher Ashley Chastain struck out 16 batters in the win. The Lady War Eagles were scheduled to take on Our Lady of Mercy last night. They will host Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy at 5 p.m. next Tuesday.
