Run/walk to help victims of domestic abuse

Local runners and walkers are invited to participate in a 5K run/1 mile walk to benefit Promise Place, an organization that assists victims of domestic violence.

The event will be held in Peachtree City again this year on Friday, Sept. 29 with registration beginning at 6 p.m. and the race starting at 6:30.

The race/walk will start and end at Partner’s Pizza, with free pizza and drinks after the race for participants. There will also be live entertainment from the Peachtree City Coyote Band, a silent auction and activities for children

Last year, Promise Place helped more than 1,200 victims in the Griffin Judicial Circuit, which includes Fayette, Spalding, Upson and Pike counties. The non profit organization relies on community support, volunteers and donations, and this event is their biggest fund-raiser of the year.

Sponsors and auction items are still needed. To help, call Promise Place at 770-460-1604 or Heidi Becker at 770-846-8659.
