Line Creek opens at new location with all night eventTue, 08/29/2006 - 4:10pm
By: The Citizen
Line Creek Baptist Church, formerly a historic landmark in western Fayette County, will open in its new Coweta County location with an all night singing Friday, Sept. 8, followed by a grand opening and dedication service Sunday, Sept. 10. The Friday night singing will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will feature the Crossway Quartet and special singers from Line Creek. Displaced by retail giant Best Buy several years ago, and faced with corporate sprawl from Wal Mart and others, the Line Creek congregation, originally formed in 1869, decided to move into adjacent Coweta County and is now a few miles west of the county line. Its historic cemetery was left behind with promises of maintenance and upkeep and is adjacent to Best Buy on Ga. Hwy. 54 just across the new railroad bridge. The new sanctuary is on Bob Smith Road just off Lower Fayetteville Road. Directions: From Peachtree City, take Ga. Hwy. 34 to Dr. Fischer Road, turn left and go to Lower Fayetteville Road. Turn right on Lower Fayetteville, cross Shoal Creek, and Bob Smith Road is the next road on the left. The church is visible from the corner.
